Restaurant Review: Johnny Garlics, Windsor

in

Before Guy Fieri rose to food network fame he owned a couple of awesome restaurants in Sonoma County. Since his fame, they have become more crowded but they are always worth the wait.

I have been visiting this restaurant for years now. It helps that I'm within walking distance. Almost all of the food on the menu is garlic themed and all of it is fairly fantastic and almost all of it goes well with wine.

The food is for the most part bold in flavor and served in hearty portions, the atmosphere is a cross between an upscale diner and a hopping bar; not a great place for a quiet meal but if you're not concerned about noise levels (which I am not) it is an awesome experience.

Favorites of mine on the menu are the garlic fries, tortilla cake, penne pesto vegetables and the house made tiramisu. They also feature exotic hunters selections, and Guy's favorites.

The service is always friendly and helpful. Even though they usually filled to the brim food is cooked and delivered to your table promptly. Typically you'll spend about $60 for two people if you go with appetizers, drinks, main courses and dessert.

A small selection of local wines are available and they all pair well with the great food.
