I'm just going to keep adding to this until somebody starts participating with me ;-)
Ravenswood "Vintners Blend" Cab '05 ($11ish but on sale for $7 whoo recession!)
The nose right off was a strong raspberry truffle... Mmmm.. Starts with a sparkly Cedar and Acetone, then fades out into a dried Basil finish. Despite the sharp notes it's quite light and smooth without being too velvety.
I think I'm gonna have to grab another one for the rack.

For these trying economic times, when you just don't want to crack into
the good stuff in your cellar, but you still need something better then
welchs grape juice..
Smoking Loon Cab '05 (sub $7 usually) It falls into
the typical consumer oriented wine styles, but for it's price range has
quite a bit more character then one would expect. The stereo typical
subtle blackberries and a strong smokey oak are present. Medium body
and finish despite a strong kick in the tannins.
The Syrah is of equal
quality and a bit more subdued. However the Old Vine Zin falls short
of being impressive even factoring the price. These two bottles from
Smoking Loon make for a safe bet on casual dinners, or partying on the
street Parisian style when you don't want the police to confiscate your
good stuff.
